A Studio Built Around Doing One Thing Well
Verge Atelier has been attending to watches on Charoen Krung Road since 2009. The studio keeps a narrow focus: three services, handled with care, documented in writing.
← Back to HomeSixteen Years on Charoen Krung
Verge Atelier opened in 2009 in a narrow shophouse on Charoen Krung Road, the oldest paved street in Bangkok. The road has been home to goldsmiths, importers and craftspeople for generations, and that lineage sat quietly behind the decision to open a watch service studio here rather than somewhere more obviously commercial.
The studio's founder, Khun Wanchai, had spent a decade working in a large service centre before deciding that the pace of volume work was incompatible with the attention he wanted to give each piece. Verge Atelier was built with that in mind: a small counter, a well-lit bench and a deliberate limit on the number of jobs taken each week.
Over the years the services have been refined down to three. Quartz care and seal checking for everyday watches, pre-owned inspection for buyers and sellers navigating private transactions, and corporate gifting preparation for HR and procurement teams who want the watches they give to arrive properly checked and presented. Each service has a defined scope and produces a written record.
The studio does not undertake full mechanical overhauls or movement rebuilds. That boundary is intentional. By staying within it, the work that Verge Atelier does take on is done with the full attention it deserves.

How the Studio Works
These are not aspirational commitments. They describe how each job is actually handled, every time.
Documented Scope
Every service has a written scope agreed at intake. No additional work is carried out without prior discussion, and the completed job card reflects exactly what was done.
Calibrated Equipment
Pressure testing equipment is checked against reference standards each quarter. Timing instruments are verified before use on any watch submitted for condition reporting.
Written Records
Every job produces a written output: a service card for maintenance work, or a condition report for inspections. These stay with the client and travel with the watch.
Client Data Handling
Contact information collected at intake is used only for the purpose of the current service. It is not shared with third parties and is retained only for the period required by Thai commercial record-keeping obligations.
Watch Handling Protocols
All watches are placed on padded surfaces during assessment and service. Photographs are taken at intake for all pre-owned inspections, providing a baseline record of condition on arrival.
Transparent Pricing
Service prices are fixed and communicated before work begins. There are no add-on charges introduced after the fact. Corporate invoicing is available with standard payment terms.
Watchmaking Knowledge, Applied Narrowly
Bangkok holds a substantial population of watch collectors, everyday wearers and people navigating the pre-owned market for the first time. The city's humidity, heat and variable air quality put particular demands on water resistance seals and battery contacts — conditions that make routine quartz care more relevant than it is in drier climates.
Verge Atelier was built for this context. The quartz care service addresses the specific maintenance needs of watches worn through Bangkok's seasons. The pre-owned inspection is structured for the city's active private resale scene, where a neutral written assessment from a known studio carries weight in a transaction. The corporate gifting preparation reflects the city's business culture, where a properly presented watch with verified function is meaningfully different from one that simply arrives in a box.
Working with a studio that is clear about what it does — and equally clear about what it does not do — is a practical advantage. When a watch arrives that falls outside the studio's scope, the client is told so directly, along with a candid suggestion about where to take it. That kind of clarity is difficult to maintain in a high-volume environment. It is easier in a small studio that has chosen to stay small.
The values that shape the work at Verge Atelier are not unusual in themselves: accuracy, honesty about scope, respect for the objects in the studio's care. What makes them meaningful is that they are applied consistently, to every job, regardless of the watch's age, brand or value. A ฿3,500 gifting preparation receives the same documentation standard as a ฿11,550 inspection report.
